  I know what you're thinking: why cassettes?
  
  First of all, they're what I grew up on – all my first albums were on tape, and later on, as the 1980s dawned, Santa brought me my first ever Sony Walkman, and its headphones stayed glued to my ears whenever I wasn’t at school or asleep.
  
  Secondly, cassettes are how – and why – I started making music. Were it not for a malfunctioning ghetto blaster that could somehow do overdubs, I might never have bothered recording any songs at all (some of the fruits of these early labours are on the Angry Buddhists album, right here on Bandcamp).
  
  Thirdly, although they’re undoubtedly one of the worst sounding, most unreliable music formats ever made, I love the way cassettes sound. There’s something really intimate about tape hiss, something warm and slightly dirty that feels a bit like eavesdropping. All these tape releases will reflect that, and will all be recorded at home – these will be little, personal albums of exploration and, hopefully, fun with a touch of loveliness. (I realise not many of you out there have a tape machine these days, so the albums will be available here digitally too.)
  
  The first release is from toygasm – i.e. yours truly with the help of The Weans – with an album recorded at home using mostly toys and apps, and the first run is a limited edition of 100 (1 copy per order, please). The second release should be ready for October, and I expect there’ll be a few more next year too.
